Presented by Nick Jouault on Tuesday 19th November 2024 5.15pm in the Members’ Room

Whilst doing other research on the 19th century Nick noticed some Polish names and noted a few down.  He started a blog, initially profiling some 25 exiles.  This led to a Polish researcher contacting him and they have now put together a list of 100 exiles.  Many were exiled from France for being problematic to the French, so they chose Jersey as a home for Utopian Socialism!

“Lud Polski” means Polish People, and was a political group founded here. “Niezabudki Jerseyskie” means “Forget-me-not Jersey” and was a collection of poems published here.  Also featured is a picture of Korzelinski who wrote “Wsypa Jerseyskie”, and also the Masonic Temple.

All members welcome to attend.
