We are delighted to announce that the Société Jersiaise Mycology Section has been awarded funding by Ports of Jersey for our Discovering Jersey’s Hidden Fungi project.
This exciting support will enable us to expand our research into Jersey’s fungal biodiversity through the use of modern DNA sequencing techniques, helping to identify species that may have previously gone unrecorded and improving the accuracy of existing records. The project builds on many years of dedicated volunteer-led recording and research and will provide valuable new information to support conservation, environmental monitoring and future scientific study.
We also look forward to sharing our findings through public talks, articles and community engagement activities, helping more Islanders discover the fascinating and often overlooked world of fungi.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ports of Jersey for their generous support of this project. Their funding will help us uncover more of Jersey’s hidden biodiversity and ensure that this important work can benefit both science and the wider community for years to come.
