Volunteering at the Société is a great way to develop your understanding of the collections by getting hands-on with the tasks of protecting these vital resources for future generations and making them available to researchers through digital platforms. Below are a range of common tasks carried out by volunteers at the Société, please get in touch if you are interested in a taster session to see if you find the roles enjoyable. Full training and supervision will be provided for all tasks.

Cataloguing is the process by which we make our collections searchable for researchers. Basic computer skills and attention to detail are required. Knowledge of Jersey locations, people and history are also useful.
Digitising collections allows us to improve access to the collections. Basic computer skills are required, as is careful handling.
Preservation requires us to house collections in appropriate enclosures and to store them within set parameters, this prolongs the useable life of the items in our care. Careful handling is essential.
Editors and Proof Readers are always in need with the quantity of written content that the Société produces, edits and publishes. English is the primary language, but also there are also opportunities for French and German readers.
