Philanthropy at the Société Jersiaise

Earlier this year, the Société Jersiaise was proud to host Jersey Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Policy Visioning Session, welcoming leaders from charities, business and government to our Members’ Room. The event marked an important step towards developing Jersey’s first Philanthropy Policy and explored how philanthropy can play an even greater role in improving outcomes for Islanders.

That conversation is already leading to new opportunities.

Jersey Community Foundation has launched the Matched Giving Challenge, supported by the Jersey Reclaim Fund. Eligible donations of £10,000 to £50,000, made by 31 October 2026 (or earlier if the available funding is fully allocated), will be matched £1 for £1. When combined with Jersey Gift Support, a qualifying £10,000 donation could be worth up to £22,500 to Société Jersiaise.

For more than 150 years, the Société Jersiaise has relied on the generosity of members, benefactors and supporters. Their philanthropy has helped preserve Jersey’s history, archaeology, natural environment and language, while enabling generations of Islanders to learn, research and share knowledge.

Today, like many charities, we are facing increasing costs while continuing to grow our work. Philanthropic support can help us deliver our public talks programme, strengthen the work of our specialist Sections, care for our nationally important Library and Photographic Archive, conserve our assets, and develop new opportunities for people of all ages to engage with Jersey’s culture.

If you have ever considered making a significant gift to the Société Jersiaise, there has rarely been a better time. Through the Matched Giving Challenge, your generosity could have more than double the impact, helping secure Jersey’s heritage for generations to come.

To discuss supporting a particular project, or to find out whether your gift could qualify for match funding, please contact Beth Gallichan, Fundraising Lead, at fundraising@societe.je. Beth would be delighted to arrange a confidential conversation and explore how your support can make a lasting difference.
