Equal Opportunities Statement

The Société Jersiaise believes that including a diverse community in its membership groups, research and employment practices is essential and reflects an organisational founding value of inclusivity.

We aim to ensure that everyone, including members, staff and all others associated with the Société are treated with dignity, respect, and equity and that staff and members treat others in the same way.

Race, nationality, ethnic identity or national origin, socio-economic status or role within the Société, religious or political beliefs, disability, age, marital status, family circumstance, gender presentation or sexual orientation will not be used as grounds for discrimination.

The Société will comply with current and future legislation. Specifically, ‘protected characteristics’ under the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013. These are:

  • Ethnicity
  • Sex including intersex
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender reassignment
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Age

The Human Rights (Jersey) Law 2000 Article 14 also prohibits discrimination in relation to
the rights and freedoms within the law
