Martha MacDonald’s latest piece on the Société Jersiaise is now live and available here. Martha is in conversation with Pat Jackson, Garden History Section Chair and the blog includes a small selection of Garden History records from the Société Jersiaise Photographic Archive.

The Roger and Margaret Long Collection

The Photographic Archive team has the pleasure of reporting on the completion of a project to digitise 20,000 images from the Roger and Margaret Long Collection.

New Executive Members

The Société Jersiaise is pleased to welcome 3 new General Members to the Executive Committee. 

Garden History Update

At our February meeting we enjoyed Jennifer Rendell’s  photographic record of the Chelsea Physic Garden. The particular interest in medieval herbs was the link to Hamptonne’s herb garden where plants chosen to reflect seventeenth century householder’s needs had been planted.

Daveluy Prize 2022

Hervé Duval (Field Archaeologist, Société Jersiaise) was awarded the Congratulations by the Jury of the Prize for his thesis on the coastal and insular fortified sites of the Channel-Atlantic coast of Europe from the First millennium BCE.

150th Anniversary Tea Party

The Société Jersiaise will be holding a 150th Birthday Tea Party in the Members’ Room at 7 Pier Road on Friday 20th January 2023 at 5pm.
