Members have continued walks in the winter when it is trickier to identify plants vegetatively if there are no flowers present, this presents an interesting challenge.  Many plants form a rosette in the winter when they emerge and it is possible to identify a plant from the rosette. The structure of the leaf is important when identifying a plant. However there are some plants flowering in January, such as this Viola oderata Sweet Violet, Leucojum aestivum Summer Snowflake and Bellis perennis Daisy.
