Jersey Forget-me-not Myosotis sicula is a very small Forget-me-not in the large Forget-me-not family.  We have five species of Myosotis (The forget-me-not family)on Jersey.  There are four species that grow in or near water, including the special and rare Myositis sicula. This Jersey-forget-me-not is the only place in the British Isles that it grows and it is now only found in one location on the island.  Recently the Botany section undertook some restoration work to increase the population of this rare plant.  Each year only a few plants emerge and some years no plants at all occur.  Last year a grant was obtained from the Countryside Enhancement Scheme and restoration work undertaken to restore the habitat.  Also a license was obtained to collect seed from Jersey Forget-me-not plants, propagate some plants and plant them back into their natural habitat to bulk up the natural population.
