With fungi appearing all over the island, it’s worth putting out a reminder about the potential danger presented by the Death Cap Mushroom, Amanita phalloides. It is involved in approximately 90% of fatal mushroom poisonings worldwide. Three people were unfortunately hospitalised in Jersey last year from eating Death Cap mushrooms, so awareness is important.

Never collect, handle or ingest any mushrooms that look anything like Death Caps as mistakes can result in serious illness, organ failure or death.

Please read the pamphlet for advice around Death Caps in Jersey.
