The Poindexter Descendants have had a very busy few days in Jersey, as well as spending time in our Lord Coutanche Library, they took a trip to Normandy with members of the Channel Island Family History Society (CIFHS)

“After a night stop in St Malo we explored Mont-Saint-Michel, then drove to Avranches and it’s Scriptorium containing ancient documents. The next day we stopped in Coutances on the way to Bayeux and our second cathedral of the morning! The Bayeaux tapestry was a highlight for most of course. Outside Bayeux, the renovated 4* Chateau de Bellefontaine, complete with lake in peaceful surroundings, our base for two nights. A full day was devoted to WW2 history, with visits to the Utah and Omaha D-Day landing beaches and associated museums, then the sombre American war cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. On the last full day, the group explored Caen in the morning, including the resting place of William the Conqueror, on the way to Rouen for a historical afternoon tour of this ancient town, fortunately not too severely bombed in WW2”.
