Channel Islanders and outsiders (including academics) just don’t appreciate how different the Islands are with interweaving threads of feudal, canon and customary law, defence, the Parishes, Royal Courts, and the States, which contribute to Island identity both directly as unusual legislatures and indirectly as sources of legislation.
