Earlier in the year the Section discussed arranging a family friendly activity, and although this will not come to pass within the year preparations are already underway for next year.
On 5th August some of the members met to run through the creation of a Discovery Trail for St. Helier. This had mostly been devised by Sue Hardy, who was joined at the meeting by Nicky, Maggie, Tom and Olli. The trail combines a range of different activities with some sort of historical basis which we hope will help people get to know the town and its historic offerings a bit better.
During the meeting it became apparent, much to the disbelief of the other members, that the Secretary’s own knowledge of his home parish left much to be desired, and therefore it was shown that the Discovery Trail would be suitable for children, trained historians and adults alike.
If any other members from the Section (or wider Société) would like to get involved please contact the Secretary (history@societe.je). Some ideas for self guided walks were also discussed at the meeting.
