The Photographic Archive team has the pleasure of reporting on the completion of a project to digitise 20,000 images from the Roger and Margaret Long Collection.

Produced between the 1960’s to the early 2000s, the collection documents the botanical, entomological and ornithological species of Jersey. It also details the local built and natural environment and the work of the Société Sections among other things. The extensive collection of colour transparencies, painstakingly created and indexed by Roger and Margaret is one of our most significant 20th-century collections.

An exhibition of their work took place in June 2021 at the Link Gallery, at which point 3,000 images were digitised. Special thanks to Abbie Bentley and Max Le Fevre who worked on the project in its final stages, as well as Shannon O’Donnell and Leah Bohea for all their work on the project over the past two years.

Keep an eye out for updates as we’ll add images to the online catalogue in the coming months.
